Sub-freezing temperatures and lots of snow doesn’t put a damper on activities in Waveny Park, on the contrary, snow-shoers, skiers and paddle tennis players flanked the year-round visitors to Spencer’s Run.

I have never read such selfish fiction as I found on a website devoted to defending the capitalist notion that we should sacrifice our public parkland for a New Canaan-based Continuing Care Retirement Community.
The website ccrcfornc.org states:
Q: Was this the type of Waveny land usage envisioned by Mrs. Ruth Lapham Lloyd?
A: Most definitely.
Q: Are “Open Space” and a CCRC on Lapham Road mutually exclusive concepts?
A: Absolutely not

It’s almost Family Fourth time and there’s a rainbow over the Waveny Castle. Wednesday evening, July 2nd, after a quick downpour on an otherwise sunny day a rainbow stretched from field to field across the beautiful Lapham Estate.

Went for a walk in a part of Waveny Park rarely experienced. Now that most of the Lapham Estate trails have been altered and landscaped, trucks are parked permanently in the woods and even the athletic fields are diminishing – I thought I’d take a walk in the little-altered section of Park land across Lapham Road. This area is home to the rugged Waveny Disc Golf Course and at the far end, the D.O.T. managed piles of compost. From Rt. 106 to Lapham Road is a dense and lush example of New England forest.
