Spencer’s Run is closed but the dogs have a new website

Rainy weather caused the people who paid to padlock the park in the name of protecting their property. That’s right! The dog park is closed to protect it from the dogs. Saturday and Sunday I arrived at Waveny Park to find a dozen or more dogs wandering on leash outside the New Canaan dog park.
Saturday a hardware store variety neon “Closed” sign was stuck on the gate, Sunday found a long chain and two padlocks ensuring no one enters.
I finally got that email I was expecting. Instead of announcing the re-opening here’s the news I received:
Spencer’s Run is currently closed due to heavy rain.

Well that’s just ridiculous. I was going to bring Data over there today, but I guess I won’t waste the time.
Let’s hope they update spencersrun.org as soon as they “re-evaluate the situation on Monday November 17th.”
